The
village of Schull runs the length of main street with a remarkable selection
of shops and services with plenty of local art and crafts to take home
as a reminder.
Mount Gabriel shelters the village from the north, well worth the 1339
ft climb to the top for the wonderful views across the harbour, Roaring
Water Bay and Carbery's hundred isles.
Bicycles can be hired for a closer look at the sights along our empty
roads, at as lower pace there are plenty of walks, or golf for those who
enjoy walking with a purpose.
There are tennis courts, squash courts, the only planetarium in Ireland
and pony trekking.
The ferry to Cape Clear, boat trips, fresh and salt water angling and
sailing are available for water lovers.
The Mizen Head Signal Fog Station guarantees a unique and authentic experience
in any weather.
Then there is, of course, the opportunity to sample the excellent local
produce from both sea and farm in the fine selection of pubs and restaurants.
From
Schull Harbour take the Colla Road. Opposite the ruined chapel turn right,
then follow our sign to the left. Just a little way along this road you
will find Stanley House with its commanding views.
Settle in and relax with a cup of tea or coffee in the sun room enjoying
the view "past the flowers" across Schull Harbour, to Roaring
Water Bay with its many islands or make yourself at home in the lounge/TV
room.
As
well as a full en-suite bathroom, each of the comfortable, centrally heated
bedrooms overlook the harbour with Mount Gabriel beyond.
After a relaxing nights' sleep you can admire the view before wandering
down for a leisurely breakfast to see you through the day.
