Dunmore East is a charming, picturesque village that has been a popular holiday resort for many years. Take time to explore its many hidden coves, superb cliff walks and neat rows of pretty thatched cottages. It is also a major fishing port with local trawlers and fishing fleets from Europe using its facilities. The cliffs surrounding the harbour are a nesting and breeding habitat for the Kittiwake, a protected species of sea bird.This bird colony is unique as it is one of the only ones nesting close to man. Every year sees more visiting yachts in the harbour whose crews enjoy the facilities offered by the sailing club in its clubhouse on the pier.
